Choosing a Workspace View

You can easily change the layout of the Aperture main window to match your workspace preferences and workflow. You can work with the Browser filling the main window, with the Browser in combination with the Viewer, or with only the Viewer open.

To work with the Browser filling the main window
Do one of the following:
  • Choose View > Browser.

  • Click the Browser button in the toolbar.

To work with the Browser and Viewer together in the main window
Do one of the following:
  • Choose View > Split View.

  • Click the Split View button in the toolbar.

To work with the Viewer only
Do one of the following:
  • Choose View > Viewer.

  • Click the Viewer button in the toolbar.

Tip: To quickly change workspace views, press the V key repeatedly until you see the view you want to work in.

When you work with the Browser and Viewer together, you can reposition the Browser on the screen. For example, you can rotate the Browser to the side.

You can also swap the position of the Viewer and Browser.

To rotate the position of the Browser
  • Choose View > Browser > Rotate Position (or press Shift-W).

To swap the position of the Browser and the Viewer
  • Choose View > Browser > Swap Position (or press Option-W).

Using the Rotate Position and Swap Position commands, you can arrange the Browser and Viewer in the positions most convenient for you.
